Last Saturday, April 4, our office at Brankova 9 in Belgrade turned into a true art studio. We gathered to explore a traditional and deeply meditative craft — decorating Easter eggs using the wax-resist technique.
Creativity and Craftsmanship
Guided by our talented instructor Marijana, each participant created their own unique egg. We learned the secrets of this traditional wax technique — how to apply intricate patterns and combine them with colors to achieve an authentic, vibrant design.
A Special Day – Lazarus Saturday (Vrbica)
Our workshop coincided with Lazarus Saturday (Vrbica), a holiday celebrated in Serbia with warmth and rich traditions. Alongside the creative process, we explored its cultural meaning:
we discussed unique Serbian customs associated with this day
learned why children in Serbia wear bells around their necks
talked about the tradition of blessing willow branches
and compared Easter traditions from different countries
Serbian Language and a Warm Atmosphere
Of course, no evening at Brankova is complete without lively conversation. We chatted in Serbian, expanding our vocabulary with holiday-related expressions while enjoying a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Each egg turned out different, full of personality — and each participant left with a piece of that warmth and festive spirit.
Hvala svima na divnom druženju!See you at our next workshops! 🐣✨
